Two friends, one small lake, and the freedom to fish how you want.

What happens when an inventor and a business person become fishing buddies? In our case, a friendship forged on the small lakes of Wyandotte County, just outside Kansas City, turned into a company devoted to giving everyday anglers the control the pros take for granted.

One of those friends was Richard Mynster, a self‑taught engineer with a tackle box full of ideas. He believed great fishing shouldn’t depend on owning a fancy bass boat—it should be possible from a simple jon or utility boat. The other was Mike Rhodes, a practical businessman who knew how to turn clever sketches into real products, patents, and a plan.

Together, they built RM Industries’ Pro Controll® line and spent the next three decades helping anglers fish smarter. Their first breakthrough was a foot‑control adapter for transom‑mounted trolling motors—an elegant way to steer and cast at once. As bow‑mounted control became the gold standard, the team pivoted to create the EZ Mount, a more straightforward, more affordable path to better boat handling. More solutions followed, including front‑mount options and innovative accessories designed for small‑boat life.

Throughout their journey, Richard and Mike shared their passion for fishing with their children, and as the company expanded, it remained deeply connected to its origins.. Mike remains RM Industries’ CEO, and our philosophy hasn’t changed: make products that are reliable, durable, and affordable—gear that helps anyone, on any water, fish with precision.
